Subaru Hoshikawa (星河スバル Hoshikawa Subaru?) is a fictional character and the human protagonist of the Mega Man Star Force video game and the Ryusei no Rockman anime and manga. The Visualizer glasses that he wears on his head allow him to view the Radio Wave World, and result in him making contact with an FM extraterrestrial known as Warlock (ウオーロック Wōrokku?, War-Rock in the Japanese language version). Subaru and Warlock are able to merge together through "Radio Wave Conversion" to become Mega Man. While in this form, Subaru's body is covered in a unique armor, and Warlock acts as his Mega Buster (Rock Buster). By feeding Battle Cards to Warlock (referred to as "Predation"), Subaru gains an additional weapons base. He is voiced by Fuyuka Oura in the original version of the series.

Subaru is the son of Daigo Hoshikawa and Akane Hoshikawa. Due to the disappearance of his father that occurred three years prior, he has neglected school. After being confronted by his classmates Luna Shirogane, Gonta Ushijima, and Kizamaro Saishouin who beg him to return to school, he heads to an observing platform where he discovers Warlock after putting on the Visualizer (which previously belonged to his father). Warlock tells him that he knows his father.
