The Banner (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Banner is a metalcore band from New Jersey that take major influence from horror movies, and darker bands such as The Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, Integrity, Ringworm, and Ink & Dagger. They have released three albums since 2001. Critics and fans have been known to call the group "metalcore," "zombiecore," and "horror punk," though the band prefers to label themselves "hardcore punk" or "dark hardcore." Many of their lyrics are based on horror movies, and almost all of their lyrics stress introspective thinking, insanity, sadness, and romantic tragedy.
They describe themselves on their website, (www.thebannernj.com) with: "The songs exhibited both heavy and melodic elements that blend together into unique, energetic hardcore anthems, with Joey providing horror-themed lyrics as metaphors for intensely personal musings."
With their success on their current label, Ferret Records, their former label, Blackout Records, is planning on releasing a shelved project that they produced with The Banner sometime in mid- to late- 2006, title is yet unknown.

The Banner officially formed as "XBRUCE BANNERX" in late 99-00, although Joey and Garrett have been doing bands together non stop since 1997 when Joey and Garrets older brother met in highschool and started new jersey punk band "Dodgeball heroes".The Banner itself has gone through many line up changes. The last line-up, consisting of Joey, Mike, Chris, and Ian for the "Each Breath Haunted" lineup announced on August 22, 2006 they were breaking up and heading their own separate ways. Joey's public statement involved a claim that the band members could not handle touring full-time, but the other three have since stated that lack of funds, label support, or agreement amongst themselves caused the breakup. However, sometime in November 2006, it was announced that The Banner was reforming with Garrett and what was set to be their last show, December 20 in Asbury Park, NJ, would become their "comeback" show, playing with Napalm Death, A Life Once Lost, Animosity, Dead to Fall, and December AE.
