Tim Hasselbeck (born April 6, 1978, in Norfolk, Massachusetts) is an NFL quarterback. He attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. He was a productive college player at Boston College, and was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad in 2002 as an undrafted free agent. In 2003 he was signed by the Washington Redskins.
He spent two seasons as a backup quarterback for the Redskins, and was thrust into starting action in 2003 when then starting quarterback Patrick Ramsey was injured. The high point of his career to date came on December 7, 2003, when he completed 13 of 19 passes for 154 yards in leading the Redskins to a 20-7 win over the New York Giants. He threw two touchdown passes and no interceptions in that game. The following week he had the ignominy of recording the lowest possible single-game passer rating (0.0) in a 27-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys under the playcalling of Coach Steve Spurrier. Hasselbeck was 6-for-26 (23%) for 56 yards with four interceptions in that game.
In May 2005, the New York Giants signed Hasselbeck to be their backup for QB Eli Manning. While he is regarded as strong-armed and athletic, he has a mediocre 63.7 career passer rating. Hasselbeck, however, has not thrown a pass in an NFL regular season contest since the 2003 season. He currently is listed as the Giants' third string quarterback behind Jared Lorenzen.
Hasselbeck is also known as the brother of Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and the husband of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, former Survivor contestant and current co-host of The View. Hasselbeck married Elisabeth Hasselbeck (née Filarski) in July 2002. They welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Grace Elisabeth Hasselbeck on April 6, 2005, which was Hasselbeck's 27th birthday. Tim and Matt are the sons of former New England Patriots tight end Don Hasselbeck.
