Reading Villein and Serfdom is confusing. Are they the same or different? Was a villein a step up from being a serf, or not? --Henrygb 23:11, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- My understanding is that they are different. They were certainly abolished under different statutes in England, which would presumably not have been necessary if they were the same thing. --Legis (talk - contributions) 12:58, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
