NOTE: My time here is currently pretty restricted. Some of this is RL, some of it is disgust at the constant vandalism. I'm paring my watchlist down, and my response times will be pretty long. Wikibofh(talk) 22:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] vandalism by 204.107.242.30
Hi Wikibofh
I noticed that you had placed a vandalism warning for 204.107.242.30 and just wanted to let you know that this IP had also placed clearly vandalistic edits on the Landmark Education page on Sept 10th.
I would be grateful if you would you also give me your opinion on the torrent of edits on that page and many linked ones by Smeelgova and Kat'n'Yarn. Both appeared in the last few months and have made hundreds of edits (actually thousands in the case of smeelgova) virtually all on the same group of topics and clearly pushing a particular POV, including instant reversions or most contributions by other editors. Thanks DaveApter 08:28, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. I've been on limited time for the last week. Wikibofh(talk) 16:20, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:UW
Hi Wikibofh,
I see looking at the WikiProject user warnings page, that you are a participant in this project. I have recently started an undertaking to harmonise all user page warnings and templates. For this I would like your assistance. I have listed a number of ideas on the project template page here as a first draft. I fully appreciate that as with most editors and admins, that you are fairly busy. Therefore I am not looking for anyone to carry out the actual work, I am willing to do that myself, with help from a number of other RC Patrollers who have come forward. But what I am looking for is your invaluable input, on the draft ideas and also to suggest other ways you believe we may improve the templates. I do however require the services of a couple of administrators to put into effect some of the new templates, as they are currently protected. Please take 5 mins to look through the new templates page, and both the project and templates talk pages and leave any ideas or suggestions that you may have. Best regards Khukri (talk . contribs) 10:53, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] query re: User BB Hibou
I noticed you blocked BB Hibou indefinetely. This user posted a rather BS accusation of incivility on my talk page. I was wondering if it's okay to erase this, since it's apparent the user was not acting in good faith? The conversation is split between my talk page and his if you care to look. If you'd like me to summarize it for you (I see at the top of your talk page that you're reducing your time on-site) just let me know. Natalie 17:45, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I say go ahead and remove it. He was clearly just a troll. Wikibofh(talk) 18:14, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

- That's what I figured. Thanks.Natalie 18:22, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blocking IP 63.166.111.173
I noticed that you put a block template on User_talk:63.166.111.173. There was a typo in the template ( '[' instead of '{' ). I was going to fix it myself, but when previewed, it inserted my user name. I didn't want to cause any trouble or confusion so I left it alone. Prometheus-X303- 04:50, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I fixed it. Wikibofh(talk)
[edit] repeat edits to Cichlid
Hi Wikibofh -
There's a problem with a user making repeat changes to Cichlid. Originally the change (in the number of species) was made by User:71.134.211.156. Myself and another editor have been reverting the change as the numbers that are there have reference, while these new numbers do not. We've asked the user to discuss the change on the the talk page, and to use edit histories etc - but the user simply returns, makes the change and leaves again - adding nothing else to the article.
Originally we assumed it was a good faith edit - but it seems likely now that it's vandalism. The user recently has been making the change using a different IP address. User:70.230.215.18. Myself and the other editor have placed numerous warnings on the users page but he or she does not answer them (or give any indication that they've read them). Wondering if it is possible to have an admin warn the user and take action should it continue. Thanks in advance for your assistance, David. MidgleyDJ 04:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I should add the problem is reminscent of that we had with User_talk:69.232.73.33 over unconstructive edits. I'm unsure if its the same person but the MO is the same MidgleyDJ 04:18, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] block
I had a garbled e-mail from jjohnson97@yahoo.com as follows
- Hello, I'm sorry to bother you, but I have some important news, I am being accused of being a sock puppet of a user called Bobabobabo, it is not true. I'm a good and honest contributor. May you please unblock my IP, User: Nlu already confirmed that it is NOT a open proxy or zombie computer, it is a school IP. "VCN proxycheck indicates that this IP is probably not an open proxy. --Nlu (talk) 19:48, 9 November 2006 (UTC)", may you please do a new VCN proxycheck. Please, I just want to edit Wikipedia.
- User: Wikibofh had unblocked so I can start ever. This is getting why out of hand.
- Please unblock me.
I have no objection in principle to unblocking if this is genuine, but I'm not computer literate enough to work out who this is, let alone to decide whether this is a genuine request. Can you help? jimfbleak 16:06, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- I received something similar. Need to get the block notice before we can figure out which address they're talking about. Wikibofh(talk) 16:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the notice. In general all of my recent blocks have been anon only, and as a result have little chance of "collateral damage". Wikibofh(talk) 22:58, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:UW
Hi,
You have put yourself as interested in helping out at WikiProject on user warnings. We are now at a stage where we are creating the new templates and are wondering if you are still interested? If so please visit the overview page and choose a warning type you wish to work on. There is a base template available here, which you can copy and use to get you started. Have a look through the redirects and see what old templates are affected and incorporate them into the the new system. Anyway, any questions please don't hesitate to give me a shout. Regards Khukri (talk . contribs) 09:03, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- I would love to, but I have between 0 and 0 hours per week to dedicate right now. :) Wikibofh(talk) 03:21, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The great ball of wax roles on!
I was cruseing about the history logs on Stockport and found Lil Bow Wow and BACKisayBACK were sockpuppets and vandals. WBOW and Ball of wax were her(?) other cloned personas that also tormented Bob Saget's page. They are on Stockport (U.K.), Bob Saget, Richard Kelger, Chevy Chase, Obesity and Miami (Florida). I noticed she(?) is currentlty inactive and in some caces banned, but did I carryed out my resent plan to give her(?) a sockpupet tag. Her(?) constant atacks on Bob Saget and the Obese were unaceptable. I'm sure there are a couppel of here socckies still knock about, but that is an ongoing task.

[edit] Blocking IP: 194.83.84.15
Hi Wikibofh! You recently blocked the IP address, 194.83.84.15. Not for one second am I questioning your reason for blocking, but that particular IP address is a proxy server used by Yale College, Wrexham, and is shared by many thousands of users within the college, myself being one of them. The address has previously been blocked for periods of seven days, but upon further investigation both instances were reduced due to the nature of the amount of users it serves. A similar situation occurs with AOL IP addresses I believe, and measures are in place there to prevent the blocking of innocent users. Due to the vast number of users who are connected to this IP address, a blocking sanction will not make the slightest difference in the contributions of the users. If you remain true to your original verdict, can you please make sure you don't disallow signed-in users from that IP from editing Wikipedia. Thanks Marbles 16:26, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- All of my recent blocks have been AO (anonymous only), and this is true here. AOL was a big problem before we had the ability to block only anonymous. If it turns out to be an issue, feel free to talk to other admins to reverse the block. I don't feel ownership of it. Wikibofh(talk) 17:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] House
I just figured you should know that you just blocked the US House of Representatives. I was going to put a note on AIV. alphachimp 22:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, I did. Thanks. I just finished posting the notice to the communications committee notifcation sub page. I'll get the block notice on talk in a second. Wikibofh(talk) 22:19, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK. You're block message didn't make that clear, so I just figured I'd make sure you knew. alphachimp 22:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- I appreciate you looking out for it. Someone else got the block notice on talk. I just don't seem to think that the esteemed members of our government deserve a more verbose block log notice than the average run of the mill vandals. :) Wikibofh(talk) 22:24, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it's quite disappointing... -- tariqabjotu 22:26, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Test5-n
Please direct further discussion to Template_talk:Test5-n#nonstandard_1st_parameter_and_autosignature. I just wanted to say that the "-n" stands for name, as in article name. Also, the template does allow time to be specified, as the first parameter. Superm401 - Talk 01:38, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Replied there. Wikibofh(talk) 01:54, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Evil Inc. DRV
I recommend that you withdraw your nomination from deletion review. DRV is there to contest out-of-process deletions, not to establish whether you can write a better article on the subject. ~ trialsanderrors 22:26, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I could have undeleted it earlier, but that would have been out of process, so brought it there for validation. I think I'll probably close the DRV and restore. Wikibofh(talk) 22:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- You should always run this by the deleting admin first if you think you can create a new article on the topic. They'll usually tell you if your new sources are sufficient. If you're worried about process, ask for userfication. ~ trialsanderrors 22:46, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Since you seem to be having a brain freeze here: YOU CANNOT CLOSE A NOMINATION YOU STARTED. That's why I said you should withdraw the nomination so I can close it early. ~ trialsanderrors 22:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- What is the difference between me closing it and withdrawing it and you closing it? Fundamentally we're saying the article wasn't salted, so screw the whole thing, and that's what I did. Wikibofh(talk) 23:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- The difference is that the closer did noting wrong, so we don't overturn his closure. ~ trialsanderrors 23:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I noted that I had no problem with the closer of the AfD on both his page and in the DRV itself. If I'd seen a 3 to 1 I would have done the same thing. It's what it was undelete for decision as opposed to "overturn". Wikibofh(talk) 23:20, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dillon Dam Brewery
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Dillon Dam Brewery, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Elonka 07:53, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice. I have de-prod'd it. If it does not survive AfD, well, then so be it. :) Wikibofh(talk) 23:52, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP:UW future?
Hi Wikibofh,
Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace templates. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. Cheers Khukri 10:38, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
