Far Eastern Federal District

Far Eastern Federal District (Russian: Дальневосто́чный федера́льный о́круг; tr.: Dalnevostochny federalny okrug) is one of the seven federal districts of Russia. Its population was 6,692,865 in the 2002 census, living on an area of 6,215,900 km² (2,400,000 square miles), the largest Federal District in Russia. The current Presidential Envoy is Kamil Iskhakov.
Far Eastern Federal District covers the territory of the Russian Far East (Russian part of the Far East).
Subdivisions of the Federal District, with republics (that enjoy a high degree of autonomy on most issues and correspond to some of Russia's ethnic minorities) marked with an asterisk:

Major cities include Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
