[edit] Proposed merge
One consideration is size; both articles are a bit too small to not consider merging them. The other thing is, even though band members might consider them to be two different songs, as far as the encyclopedia goes, they belong in the same article. I don't think people would look for information about NFOS seperately from Fight On, State. The NFOS article has some good stuff, and a nice picture to boot, so I think it would make a good additional section to the Fight On, State article. --Mithunc 18:16, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I disagree, according to the Blue Band these are two seperate and distinct songs. While they are similar, it would be similar to merging "God Save the Queen" and "My Country Tis of Thee" because they share the same tune. --Msl5046 13:39, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
That makes me wonder, then, is NFOS really a notable song? It almost seems to me that no one other than members of the Blue Band would know of its existence as a seperate song. --Mithunc 12:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I am a member of the Penn State Blue Band and would like to set the record straight. We play the fight song "Fight On, State" many ways. The way mentioned on the "Fight On, State" is the Touchdown version of the song, known to the Blue Band as "Touchdown, Fight On, State". We play this after every field goal and touchdown. After a field goal the song is played once, after a touchdown the song is played once and the band holds on the fermata chord right before the party whistle in the recording. If the extra point is good then the song is repeated. NFOS is used completely different. NFOS is played directly after we salute an opposing Big 10 team on the field by playing their fight song. The salute goes right into NFOS which takes us into our "PSU" formation right before we play our Floating Lions Drill Music. --Ets5017 22:57, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
