Floribella

Floribella is the name of two different Portuguese-language telenovelas, primarily targeted for children, but with elements for an adult audience as well. There is a Portuguese version, ended on 10 March 2007 at the SIC network, as well as a Brazilian version. Both are remakes of the Argentinian telenovela Floricienta created by Cris Morena, with the backgrounds of the characters adapted for the audiences.
Floribella is based on the story of Cinderella and The Sound of Music.[citation needed] Flor (played by Luciana Abreu in the Portuguese version, and Juliana Silveira in the Brazilian), is a pretty, young and poor girl who works for Frederico Fritzenwalden (played by Diogo Amaral in the Portuguese version and Mário Frias in the Brazilian), who becomes involved in a love triangle, competing with her employer's fiancée Delfina for Frederico's love.
While Floribella Brasil (2005-2006) was aired on small-net channel Band, the show developed an unusually large fanbase among children. Despite its popularity, the show received poor reviews, netting a mere 5 review points (while rival soaps amassed as many as 55).[citation needed] The show's sleeper success became more evident upon the release of the first musical album, which went Platinum.[citation needed] The book "As Aventuras de Floribella", released a week after the end of the soap, became a best-seller and topped the Children Book list for weeks. The show is currently being re-run on Disney Channel Brasil.
The success of the soap was even more widespread in Portugal, where, after a few weeks, the show would compete with its rival soap Morangos com Açúcar in the ratings and the CD would become the year's best-seller. A clothing line was also produced along with apparel, toys, and a magazine among many other products based on the show. The show is currently in its first season in Portugal, with a second season to premiere in 2007.
In 2006 began the production of the Chilean version by TVN, premiering on October of the same year. It reached high levels of rating, defeating its counterpart by Canal 13 Charly Tango. The original name Floricienta, couldn't be used because a private company had registered the trademark previously. It features actress Mariana Derderián on the role of Florencia and Cristián Arriagada on the role of Federico.
