SIC - Sociedade Independente de Comunicação is Portugal's third terrestrial television station. Launched on October 6, 1992. SIC also operates several other channels carried on satellite and cable TV in Portugal such as SIC Notícias (News channel), SIC Radical (for the youth), SIC Mulher (programmes mostly for women) and an international channel, SIC Internacional, which broadcasts in Europe, Africa, South America, North America, and Australia.

- The station's acronym is often a source of amusement by English speaking celebrities interviewed by SIC. Danny DeVito once jokingly stated that he liked the acronym because he was "in the same line of work"
- The station also is the first TV Network in Portugal to have multiple channels.
