Fosseway Forty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Launched originally for the 1981 winter market, Fosseway Forty was brewed by the Beacon Brewery company, Oakhill, as a companion beer to the original Fosseway Bitter.
It was stronger than its sister beer, having a 10.40 O.G. strength. It was because of this strength that it was given the 'forty' name tag. The stronger brew proved to be so popular with the locals that the beer was continued as a permanent product until the demise of the brewery in March 1983, following the death of the brewery owner Gerry Watts.
