French Twist is the seventh episode of the seventh season of the television series Gilmore Girls. In "French Twist," Lorelai and Chris get married, putting a lot of pressure on the two characters and setting up the drama for the second half of the seventh season.[1]
[edit] Plot
Christopher, Lorelai and Gigi head to Paris to bring Gigi to see her mother, Sherry, who left in Season 5 to accept a job offering in Paris. Christopher notes that Lorelai was very good with Sherry at the airport, and she was very good with Gigi on the plane.
Christopher packs the car, refusing to tell Lorelai and Gigi what time the plane leaves. Lorelai tells Gigi Paris is called the "City of Love" because it has lots of love and pigeons, but nobody would want to go and visit the "City of Pigeons." When they get in the car, Chris tells them they can go get a coffee because the plane does not leave for three hours. Lorelai and Gigi laugh and say they knew it.
Rory ends her job as Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Daily News and becomes unsure of what she wants to do with her life. Should she go to Grad School or become a lawyer? Olivia and Lucy suggest a girls night out in Stars Hollow, so they go there and look through scrapbooks of Rory's past, including past boyfriends. Lucy talks about her boyfriend. When they all get back home to Yale, Lucy's boyfriend Marty is in the apartment and she introduces Rory to him. Marty is Rory's old friend, and much to Rory's shock, Marty pretends not to know her.
Despite jet lag, Chris and Lorelai have a romantic time. They get engaged and married in Paris, after Chris pops the question during dinner.
