Notes:

The German Champions (Deutscher Meister) and runner-up automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage, while the third-placed team enters in the third qualifying round.
Germany's three UEFA Cup places are allocated to the fourth and fifth placed teams in the Bundesliga, in addition to the winner of the German Cup. If the German cup winner has qualified for the Champions League, this spot goes to the runner-up; if both teams have qualified for the Champions League, the sixth-placed team in the Bundesliga qualifies. The 2005-06 German Cup final saw Bayern Munich defeat Eintracht Frankfurt; however, because Bayern were mathematically assured of a Champions League spot by the time of the final match, Eintracht were guaranteed the cup winner's spot.
After a change to the format of the UEFA Intertoto Cup for 2006-07, only one German club will be guaranteed a spot in that competition, with the possibility of a second entry if other UEFA federations do not take up their places in the competition. In any event, precedence will be based on league position.
