Lev Vygotski

Lev Semjonovitš Vygotski (Лев Семенович Выготский, 12. marraskuuta 1896 – 11. kesäkuuta 1934) oli valkovenäläinen psykologi, kulttuurihistoriallisen teorian perustaja yhdessä Aleksandr Lurijan ja A. N. Leontjevin kanssa.

Vygotski syntyi samana vuonna kuin Jean Piaget Orshassa, Valko-Venäjällä (tuohon aikaan osa Venäjän keisarikuntaa). Hänen elämän päättyi kuitenkin jo 37-vuotiaana tuberkuloosin aiheuttamaan kuolemaan. Lyhyen elämänsä aikana Vygotski hahmotteli kulttuurihistoriallisen psykologian teoreettiset peruslähtökohdat. Valtavan tuotantonsa vuoksi häntä onkin sanottu psykologian Mozartiksi.
