Gamamaru
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gamamaru is a fictional character in the anime series Inuyasha, in episode 100 The Truth Behind the Nightmare: Battle in the Forest of Sorrow
The Inuyasha gang first meets with Gamamaru when they enter the illusory woods of the Forest of Sorrow. At first he sends in a swarm of moth demons to attack Inuyasha and his friends, but then decides to make a personal appearance. Gamamaru reveals he is Gatenmaru's brother, but has no desire to avenge him, seeing as he led a band of human bandits. He traps Kagome, Shippo, Sango, and Miroku inside cocoons in which they slowly turn into moth demons as they dream nightmares. Inuyasha is enraged and does battle with Gamamaru, who rubs Inuyasha's fear of being alone in his face. After a brief duel Gamamaru transforms into his true self, a yellow moth demon, which Inuyasha then easily dispatches with his Kaze no Kizu. His appearance in his friends dreams after killing Gamamaru stops them from becoming moth demons.
Gamamaru's name possibly means "Moth Guardian Man", or "Moth Devil Man", which would contrast his name with his brother's.
