Genius Sonority is a video game developer, whose staff consists of programmers who have previously contributed their talents to the EarthBound, Dragon Quest and Pokémon series of video games. The company's current president, Manabu Yamana, is best known prior to being the founder of Genius Sonority as the director of Dragon Quest V and VI, two of the best-selling Super Famicom games in Japan.
Genius Sonority began operations in July of 2001 for the original purpose of developing Pokémon games for home consoles and was officially incorporated in June of 2002, with funding provided by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Currently, they are co-developing the Wii title Dragon Quest Swords.
