Gennadi Michailovitch Karponosov (Cyrillic Геннадий Михайлович Карпоносов, born November 21, 1950 in Moscow, Russian SFSR) is a Russian figure skater.
Gennadi Karponosov trained at Dynamo in Moscow. He skated first with Yelena Sharkova. They were one of the first students of coach Tatiana Tarassova. However he was more successful with his second partner Natalia Linichuk. The pair became Olympic champions 1980 in ice dancing for the USSR. They were coached by Elena Tchaikovskaia.
In 1981 Linichuk and Karponosov retired from amateur competition. They got married on July 31, 1981.
Gennadi Karponosov studied international relations at the Public Institute Moscow.
The couple lived in Moscow at first. As a team, Gennadi Karponosov and Natalia Linichuk became very successful ice dance coaches. Later they moved to Delaware in the USA. Among others they coached and have coached Oksana Grishuk/Evgeny Platov, Anjelika Krylova/Oleg Ovsyannikov, Irina Lobacheva/Ilia Averbukh (all Russia), Galit Chait/ Sergei Sakhnovsky and Natalia Gudina/Alexei Belezki (all Israel).
In 2001 Gennadi Karponossov was admitted to the "International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame".
