Gilbert Agius (born February 21, 1974 in Valletta, Malta) is an professional footballer currently playing for Maltese Football League side Valletta, where he plays as a striker.
Agius is without doubt one of the most well known and highly respected figures in Maltese football history, due to his loyalty to his hometown club of Valletta where he has been since 1990.
Gilbert has recorded a remarkable 97 caps for his country, making him the forth most capped player in Malta's history, and with Agius currently still playing for the national team he still has a great chance of beating the record of 121 held by David Carabott.
