[edit] Biography
Ginuwine graduated from Forestville High School in Forestville, Maryland in 1989 (see article on age fabrication). He later graduated from Prince Georges Community College in Largo, Maryland with a paralegal degree, and he soon afterwards broke into the music industry, becoming a part of Jodeci member Devante's Swing Mob collective. Ginuwine can be spotted in one of Jodeci's videos. There, he met rapper Missy Elliott and producer Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, who became his main collaborators through the 1990s. Ginuwine's first single, 1996's Pony from Ginuwine...The Bachelor, showcased his smooth vocals and Timbaland's innovative production style, and the two became a hit-making duo.
After his second album, 1999's 100% Ginuwine, Ginuwine and Timbaland grew apart, and producers such as R. Kelly have crafted hits for him since then. In 2001, Ginuwine had a number-four hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Differences", which also peaked at number-one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Within a year, Ginuiwne lost both of his parents. He later wrote a song which is featured on his album The Life entitled Two Reasons I Cry
In 2002, Ginuwine was a feature artist on P. Diddy's number-one hit "I Need a Girl (Part II)". Later that year, Ginuwine started his own label, Bag Entertainment. The label would feature artists like Jose Cenquentez (who appeared on The Senior) and Ginuwine's wife Solè.
Before marrying rapper Sole, he was seen with Aaliyah in 2000 at a brunch. The two were seemingly dating. Although that's what the world would have wanted to see, the two were only friends. Ginuwine married rapper Solè (born Tonya Johnston) on September 8, 2003 in the Cayman Islands. The couple has two daughters together, Story and Dream. Sole has two daughters, De'jan and Cypress, from a previous relationship. Ginuwine also has a son, Elgin Jr. from a previous relationship.
Ginuwine's fifth album, Back II Da Basics, was released on November 15, 2005. The album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200, selling close to 80,000 copies.
[edit] I Apologize: Fake album
There is currently an album out in stores across the US called "I Apologize" apparently by Ginuwine, this is an unauthorized release of some stolen work. There are only 3 songs on the album which are in fact songs by Ginuwine, of which one is called "Since I Found U", the other 10 tracks are by unknown artists. Ginuwine insists people not buy this album and to wait for his real new album later in 2007. Ginuwine explains this issue regarding this fake album on a video he posted on MySpace & YouTube which can be watched here Ginuwine addresses issues regarding fake album
