Glass Mountains
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Glass Mountains are a series of low mesas in Major County, Oklahoma, stretching west along US Highway 412 from Orienta. The name comes from the sparkling of selenite crystals on the slopes.
In 1875, a transcription error by a mapmaker resulted in the name Gloss Mountains which is still a somewhat common name for the mountains.[citation needed]
The state of Oklahoma is in the midst of developing a state park six miles west of Orienta.
