[edit] History
Gulong ng Palad first aired on radio in 1949 and ended in 1956. For seven years, Carolina Flores (also known as Lina Flor) had to provide the script for the daily 15-minute show while her sister Loida Virinia provided the voice of the lead character.
After a successful airing on radio, the radio drama series was made into movie starring Jose Padilla and Arsenia Francisco. In 1977, Gulong ng Palad rolled over to television via Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation. The Philippine TV's first telenovela made household names out of Luisa (Marianne de la Riva), Carding (Ronald Corveau), Aling Idad (Caridad Sanchez), Peping (Romnick Sarmenta), Mimi (Beth Bautista). 'Gulong ng Palad' on TV ended in 1985.
Now, after almost six decades since it was first heard on radio, ABS-CBN revives the soap under the same title. The new 'Gulong ng Palad', has been modernized, although the basic plotline remains the same. The story still revolves around Luisa and Carding, who come from different worlds but whose great love defies all odds.
The new theme song was sung by Jerome Sala while beautiful new additions of love theme songs entitled, "Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka" by Sheryn Regis and "Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita" by Rachelle Ann Go were also added.
Gulong ng Palad ran from January 9 to May 12, 2006.
Its Pilot Ratings was 29.8% versus Extra Challenge's 27.3% in Mega Manila
