[edit] Hello
Stuff
|
Hello I'm h2g2bob. I contribute to wikipedia every so often, and I'm also involved in other wiki sites. Feel free to leave me a message on this site, or email me!
[edit] Who are you?
My real name is David Batley, but I'm known to many as Physics Dave. I live in Eastwood, Essex in the United Kingdom. I'm a student studying physics at the University of Exeter.
[edit] My beliefs
I am a humanist who holds a strong atheist belief. I support rationalism over doctrine. I also believe that you should be allowed to believe whatever they want (as long as it does not harm anyone), so theists need not worry.
[edit] UnPlug
I'm best known for writing the UnPlug extension for Firefox, IceWeasel or Songbird. (Mozilla Add-Ons, Website). UnPlug lets you download videos and other media from websites, such as YouTube, iFilm and Metacafe.
[edit] Free software
I use a lot of Free Software, and my computer runs KDE on Debian GNU+Linux. Try some, like Firefox web browser, OpenOffice.org and VLC media player. There's more at Portal:Free software. And it's free, so you can't lose!
Also, take a look at Allegro.cc to download some cool retro-style games, some of which is Free software, and some is just freeware.
[edit] Free culture
I believe in the free culture movement. If, like me, you think that DRM in music is a bad idea, or that another series of Pop Idol will kill you, then take a look at the Magnatune online record label.
[edit] Some things I like
I like ale.
You'll probably find me listening to Zakk Wylde, In Strict Confidence, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin; but sometimes I listen to The Church, Lisa DeBenedictis, Ekkeko and Steely Dan too.
