Hadith of the stroke is a famous Hadith in Islam.
It is one of the primary hadiths used by the Shia to justify Ali's right in the Succession of Muhammad. The Sunnis interpret it otherwise.

Muhammad is reported saying in the battle of the Trench:
- This one stroke of Ali's sword is superior to the prayers of both men and Jins ("Which they have been performing or will ever perform").[citation needed]
