[edit] Plot
Rory does volunteer work with Rebuilding Together, an organization that fixes up houses. While there, she talks to Paris, who tells her Rory about all of the volunteer work she has been doing to ensure that she gets into Harvard. Rory panics that she doesn't have enough extracurricular activities, and she gets into a fight with Dean when she tells him that she doesn't have time to hang out with him.
Lorelai is reluctant to tell her parents about her engagement. When she does tell her mother, Emily responds coldly, which hurts Lorelai's feelings. After a date with Max, Lorelai goes with him to her parents' house, where she and her mother get into a loud argument, and Lorelai realizes that she inadvertently hurt her mother's feelings by not telling her about the engagement sooner.
Lorelai and Max's engagement party is a huge affair. Lane serves as the DJ, then leaves immediately afterwards for Korea. Dean and Rory make up. Jackson, who has been scared that Sookie wants them to get married, offers to move in with her, but Sookie only laughs. Lorelai is even able to convince Luke to leave the diner and come to the party.
The next day, Lorelai apologizes to her mother, and asks for her mother's advice about veil lengths in an effort to include her mother in her wedding. After a long silence, Emily suggests that Lorelai wear a tiara, like she wore at her wedding.
