Hampstead & Kilburn will be a parliamentary constituency which will elect one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It will cover the north-western part of the London Borough of Camden and the far east of Brent.
[edit] Boundaries
Following their review of parliamentary representation in North London, the Boundary Commission for England reduced the number of constituencies in Brent, which had "knock-on" consequences for neighbouring boroughs. The seat of Hampstead and Kilburn is a new creation resulting from these changes.
The electoral wards used in the new constituency are from the boroughs of Brent and Camden and from the current constituencies of Brent East and Hampstead and Highgate.
- From Brent - Brondesbury Park, Kilburn, and Queens Park
- From Camden - Belsize, Fortune Green, Frognal and Fitzjohns, Hampstead Town, Kilburn, Swiss Cottage and West Hampstead
[edit] Election results
This new constituency will be fought for the first time at the UK general election in 2009 or 2010. Ed Fordham, who stood in Hampstead and Highgate in 2005 has been reselected as the Liberal Democrat candidate.
There is a notional Labour majority of 474 votes over the Liberal Democrats, according to Rallings and Thrasher.
