Heatran (ヒードラン Hīdoran?, Heatran in original Japanese language versions) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the Pokémon media franchise. The purpose of Heatran in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[1]

[edit] Biological characteristics
Heatran has a large magma body. It has a large jaw and a silver helmet-like structure on its head. Its body is mainly red and silver, and it has a short red tail. It has four legs, each locked by a steel bangle. Heatran lives inside volcanoes, burrowing into the mountains.
[edit] In the video games
Heatran is one of many Pokémon to have made their first appearance upon the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.
Heatran is found in Hard Mountain at Level 70 and is the first Pokémon with the type combination of Fire and Steel; this particular combination gives it several resistances, but a large vulnerability to Ground-type attacks.
After obtaining the National Pokédex, Heatran can be battled in Hard Mountain, once the player returns after having completed another task in Hard Mountain involving a female trainer.
Despite being a legendary Pokémon, Heatran is not genderless, and has an equal chance of being either male or female. It is also unusual because it is the only legendary without a set gender; other legendaries, like Latios, Latias, and Crecelia, have genders, though they have only one gender possibility apiece. Nevertheless, Heatran is unable to breed.
Heatran's signature move, Magma Storm, has a base power of 120, an accuracy of 70%, and the capability to trap the target.
Heatran's best stats are its Defense, Special Attack and Special Defense.
