רוג'ר פנרוז

סר רוג'ר פנרוז (נולד ב-8 באוגוסט 1931) הוא פיזיקאי ומתמטיקאי בריטי, ופרופסור אמריטוס למתמטיקה במכון המתמטי של אוניברסיטת אוקספורד. פנרוז זכה להערכה בעיקר בשל עבודתו בתחום הפיזיקה המתמטית ובמיוחד בשל תרומותיו לתורת היחסות הכללית ולקוסמולוגיה.
פנרוז נולד בקולצ'סטר, באסקס שבאנגליה, למדען ליונל ש. פנרוז ולמרגרט ליטס (רופאה). שני אחיו הם המתמטיקאי אוליבר פנרוז ורב אמן השחמט ג'ונתן פנרוז.
פנרוז ידוע באהבתו לשעשועים מתמטיים ובהיותו פילוסוף שנוי במחלוקת. הוא בעל התארים חבר מסדר השירות המצוין והחברה המלכותית.
