Iazygi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Iazygi were a Sarmatian tribe that settled first around the Azov Sea, and that later moved to the Great Hungarian Plain. They were subdued by Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius around the year 175 A.D., and almost completely killed by Atilla the Hun.
The Romanian county Iaşi (pronounced [iaʃi]) is named after the Iazygi.
