[edit] Work on Battle of Thermopylae article
Thanks for all the time and effort you are putting in improving the Battle of Thermopylae article! I had to revert one of your changes because it spelled Ionian with a mixture of Latin and Greek characters, but other than this minor issue, you're doing a marvellous job. Keep the good stuff coming :) — Keramida 23:54, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Battle of Marathon peer review
I've temporarily removed the link to a Battle of Marathon peer review that you posted on the Wikipedia:Peer Review page. I did this because the link was a redlink, meaning that the request hadn't been created yet. To create a peer review request, you need to do the following:
- Put the template {{peerreview}} at the top of Talk:Battle of Marathon.
- Create the page Wikipedia:Peer Review/Battle of Marathon with a note about the article and why you would like it peer reviewed, under the header ===[[Battle of Marathon]]===.
- Then put the code {{Wikipedia:Peer Review/Battle of Marathon}} back at the top of the requests list on the Peer Review page.
You can also find these instructions on top of the peer review page, probably written a little more clearly. As long as you make sure to follow those, you shouldn't have any problems in the future.
I took a look at the article itself; I'd say the most important things to do to get it ready for WP:FAC would be to add more inline references, get it copyedited, and break it into smaller sections. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you'd like any help with the article. RobthTalk 23:41, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Heya
I appreciate your work and enthusiasm for the topic of the Persian Wars, but I'm not sure where you're getting a lot of this info you added in there. Additionally, your narrative style is... well, to be polite, a bit lacking. I have the same trouble sometimes, as I'm on a wireless keyboard that has a tendency to drop letters on occassion. Much of the addition and editing that you did to the Persian War page is grammatically incorrect or at least very very informal; if one of my students turned in a paper like that I'd letit pass or knock off a point, but this is supposed to be an encyclopedia article. I reverted it back to a previous version simply because everything you had done as far as information and stylisticly was too much to try to go through at once. If there's specific stuff you feel the article is lacking in, try to take it to the discussion page first so other people can see what you'd like to do. Feel free to contact me on my talk page as well. Thanks. pookster11 11:12, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific nations or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 13:04, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trojan War
Ikokki, thanks for the links for the Greek books. It's a real shame that Amazon doesn't carry them, since I'm not wealthy enough to pay for overseas shipping. I will just get Kakridis' books through interlibrary loan, I think.
I also wanted to say that even though I have expressed many disagreements with you, I admire the energy you've put into expanding the Trojan War article, and I think that you have vastly improved the article. --Akhilleus (talk) 05:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello Ikkoki. It has come to my attention that under the Greco-Persian War boxes that indicate all the battles below the warboxes there have been some new ones added. These include: 1st Naxos, Sardis etc. Out of curiosity did you create them, but not yet write the article? If you did I for one welcome expanding this war. Of course you and I may find each other to be on the opposite sides of the spectrum in percieving the war. But if you are in the midst of writing those articles, perhaps I can help you? With slightly varying views we can at the least bring neutrality to the articles. I have not met another indivdual on this site who appears to be so well-versed on the topic of the Greco-Persian Wars. Shouldn't we also include Cyrus the Great's siege of Miletus. The only state he decided to comprimise with first because of their power. But then decided to invade and annex. If you were not involved in all this, I apologize for bugging you, but if you are creating these articles, perhaps you can consider leaving me a message in my talk page. I would be more than happy to write an article with a Greek to keep bias to a minimum, with such events as the Seige of Sardis. --Arsenous Commodore 23:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Battle of Marathon
Can you tidy the size of opposing forces section? Rintrah 13:48, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
The section is much easier to read now. I am very impressed with how you have sourced the section. Everything seems well arranged. I will look over it again later to proofread it, but I am already quite satisfied. Good work! Rintrah 01:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Siege of Paros
Γεια σου, Ικκόκι. I know that you are a major editor of the Persian Wars and related articles eg, Battle of Marathon and Battle of Thermopylae. After the Battle of Marathon, the Athenians under the command of Miliatades attacked Paros in revenge for the Parians supporting the Persians at Marathon. Do you think we should add this article to the Persian Wars campaign box. Also regarding the Battle of Marathon's A-class review I left a comment which I would like addressed please have a look at it. Bye. Kyriakos 07:57, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thermopylae
There's some guy at Talk:Battle of Thermopylae asking for sources on some edits that I think you have made. I told him that this is the traditionally accepted version of the Herodotian story, already linked in the sources section, but it doesn't seem convincing to him. Can you provide explicit ref tags for his fact tags? He's been flooding my talk page about it. Thanks. Miskin 11:53, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm that guy. Thank you for adding references. Sa.vakilian(t-c)--16:29, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
We should make sure that the "numbers" field of the article remains blank. It's the only way to avoid pov-pushing from both extremes. Miskin 23:13, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Also, jagger 85's edits are nearly vandalism. If he messes with sourced material again just revert him. Miskin 23:35, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I'm supporting to keep the article of Thermopylae simple and let the analytical debate take place in Greco-Persian War for two reasons: a) avoid repeating information, b) avoid undue weigh. Jagger has been POV-pushing in a ridiculous degree and he has to be watched. He makes selective sourcing and is ignorant of the WP:UNDUE part of the NPOV policy. Even Greco-Persian war is currently at undue weigh. He'll be trying to support one extreme view over the other. Miskin 15:12, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
