The one possible use I can think of is for cases like this where an AfD ends with a "merge" result, but the target article does not yet exist. While the target article is being built-up, it may look like deletion-worthy material itself, so a template like this could help to point out that it does have a purpose. --Icarus (Hi!) 00:58, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think this template is useful for the very early stages of article development when the article may be quite long but not yet meet all the WP criteria, may not be adequately wikified, etc. Once the article gets to a reasonable state, the template should be removed, because of course every article is "in progress".
