Intracoastal Democratic Club

The Intracoastal Democratic Club (also known as ICDC) is a political group associated with the Democratic Party of The United States. Chartered by the Florida Democratic Party in 1998, it is composed of members from Southeastern Volusia County, Florida.

The IntraCoastal Democratic Club was first conceived in 1997 by State Representative Suzanne Kosmas and Democratic Executive Committee Chairperson Frank Bruno. It was during this period that the original bylaws were adopted and Peter Pericola, a resident of Port Orange, Florida, was elected as their first President. A club charter was issued in April of 1998, making the club an official arm of the National Democratic Party (of the United States).
During the 2000 election cycle the group opened a Democratic headquarters in Port Orange. They also made over phone calls and sent postal mailings to promote the Democratic Candidates. Th group expanded their reach during the 2002 election cycle by increasing the number of mailings and phone calls to potential voters. In 2004, Peter Pericola was re-elected as their club president. The group is currently in the process of revamping its bylaws.

- The club currently has approximately 100 registered members.
- Membership is open to any Democrat residing in Volusia County who pays the membership fee of $12.00.
- The current President of the club is Peter Pericola, of Port Orange, Florida.
- Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Communication Workers of America Union Hall located at 4638 Clyde Morris Blvd. in Port Orange at 7:30 p.m. EST.

According to the groups website, The mission of the Intracoastal Democratic Club of Volusia County is to encourage participation and fellowship at all levels of the club’s organization;
- To promote the beliefs and values of the Democratic Party;
To stimulate active interest in political and governmental affairs by:
- Promoting equality for all regardless of race, creed, color , gender or sexual preference,
- Promoting the dignity of the human spirit by fostering social equality and;
- Work to educate the electorate politically regarding the issues and objectives of the Democratic Party and to support the duly chosen nominees of the Democratic Party in National, State and Local Elections.
- It shall be the policy of this club that no candidate will be endorsed or supported individually by this club prior to the results of any and all Primary Elections.
- At no time will members of this organization support any candidate from any other party.
The group adopted this mission statement by a majority vote in March of 2003.[1]
