[edit] Map
No offense meant, but the map seems pretty useless at this resolution. Users can click on it and get a better idea of what's being shown, but it seems silly to show it in the infobox like this. Powers 18:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- I had the same concern when I put it in today. I'll talk with the creator of the map and see if he can blow it up to a map of the Rochester area. --TMF T - C 18:27, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

- OK, Stratosphere just changed the scope of the map to just the Rochester area. Comments regarding the new map are welcome. --TMF T - C 19:14, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

- Hmm, better. The text and the arrow are still too small to read when the image is place in the infobox, though, and all those gray state routes are a bit distracting (the blue and pink Interstates are not saturated enough to stand out, perhaps). It also shows the Parkway veering out over the Lake between Pt. Breeze and Hamlin Beach. =) Powers 20:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

- Probably as good as it's going to get, although I'd truncate the highlight at the Can of Worms instead of Blossom. Also, I'm not sure why 96, 33, and 104 are highlighted. Powers 02:34, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

- Is there any way to show the names of the other major routes oon the map? --Chris 13:34, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

- I'd talk to the creator of the map (Stratosphere) regarding that issue. --TMF T - C 17:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

- At this point in time, I am not putting route labels on most of the maps I make since the default ArcMap Interstate labels look fugly. I recently made a map of NY SR 104 for TMF here. After I mapped it, I opened it in Photoshop and added the shields SPUI made to the image since TMF is shooting for Featured Article on this particular route.

- Also, on the I-590 map I'm not sure why SR 33, 96 and 104 are highlighted...obviously I told it to, but I don't recall. I also deliberately chose lighter colors for the other routes since they aren't the ones we're focusing on. Using pale colors for other routes ensures the one in question stands out as it's bold red. I settled on this scheme a month ago when I started mapping U.S. Routes, and kept it when I mapped the Interstates. Obviously, I encourage feedback on the images. The two qualms I have with ArcMap is that it's SVG export blows and I haven't found a good, efficient way to smooth the lines. Cheers! Stratosphere (talk - Contrib) 04:05, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
