James Garcia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James Robert Garcia (born February 3, 1980 in Torrance, California) is a minor league pitcher in the San Francisco Giants system as of 2006. He attended West Torrance High School, and later the University of California, Santa Barbara. He throws a good breaking ball, but doesn't have a Major League caliber fastball (or any other pitch, for that matter)-according to Baseball America. He also averages more than one strikeout per inning.
This 6-0, 210 right handed pitcher was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox 895th overall (30th round) in the 1998 amateur draft.
Thus far, his minor league career has been fairly impressive. Perhaps his best season so far has been 2004 with the San Jose Giants. In 43 games, he struck out 84 batters in 70 1/3 innings, with an ERA of 2.94.
