Jeanne de Bar

Jeanne de Bar b 1295 France - d 1361 London, was the granddaughter of Edward I "Longshanks" King of England and sister of Edouard de Bar. She was said to have been the 5th grand master of the Priory of Sion, an alleged secret society that figures prominently in Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code.
In 1310, at the age of fifteen, she was married to John de Warenne, 2nd Earl of Sussex, and divorced from him, five years later after he was excommunicated for adultery. She continued to live in England after this divorce.
In 1345 she was invited by the King of France to come back, and act as regent of the County of Bar.
In 1353, she returned to England. When the French monarch was captured and imprisoned in London, she was allowed to visit him and is said to have become his mistress.
She died in 1361 in London.
