Jessie James (murder victim)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jessie James (c. 1991-September 9, 2006) was a British schoolboy who was the victim of an unsolved shooting when he was shot and killed after 1:00 pm in Broadfield Park, Moss Side on September 9, 2006.
Possible motives are unclear and, while James' death is the latest in a series of shootings in the London and Manchester areas [1], investigator Supt. John O'Hare issued a public statement commenting that authorities believed James' murder was planned or possibly as the result of a gang war between local street gangs. This has been disputed by friends and family who claim he had been riding his bicycle to a party.
As of 2006, detectives are awaiting the results of forensic tests and a post-mortem examination to establish how many shots were fired and what type of weapon was used. Although investigators believed there were witnesses present at the shooting, particularly three teenage girls who were seen standing in a group outside the West Indian Sports & Social Club, no one has come forward.
