Joint Policy Board for Mathematics

The Joint Policy Board for Mathematics (JPBM) consists of the American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
The Board has nearly 55,000 mathematicians and scientists who are members of the three organizations.
Each April, JPBM celebrates Mathematics Awareness Month to increase public understanding of and appreciation for mathematics. Every year there is a theme for the Mathematics Awareness Month. This started off as the Mathematics Awareness Week celebration in 1986.
The theme for Mathematics Awareness Month 2007 is Mathematics and the Brain.
