Jon Vitti
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jon Vitti is a writer who is most noted for his well-received scripts for the television series The Simpsons. He has also written for the King of the Hill and The Critic series, and has served as a consultant for several animated movies, including Ice Age (2002) and Robots (2005). He is one of 11 writers currently working on The Simpsons Movie.
He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he contributed to the Harvard Lampoon. Prior to joining the Simpsons show, he had a brief stint with Saturday Night Live during the season. He has stated on a DVD commentary that it was "a very unhappy year".
He is sometimes credited as "John Vitti".
He has also used the pseudonym Penny Wise. Vitti used the pseudonym for episodes "Another Simpsons Clip Show" and "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular" because he did not want to be credited for writing a clip show as expressed on Simpsons DVD commentaries yet his name was credited for writing the first Simpsons clip show "So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show". It has been expressed by Matt Groening on commentaries that Pound Foolish is a male director who has directed for the show in past episodes. The director's true identity is David Silverman, who directed Vitti's first episode, and worked closely with him on Ice Age.
