[edit] Belgian Royal Palace image

FYI, I really liked your image and uploaded it to to Wikimedia Commons. [1], so that the non-English Wikis can easily reference it. Great picture, BTW.

[edit] Taiwan Notice Board

Hello,

Just for your information, I am comming to advertise the Wikipedia:Taiwan-related topics notice board that I have just created in the hope that contributers on Taiwan related topics can have a place to discuss on different proposals.

I also made a page List of Taiwan-related topics (by category) so that we can keep track on the topics by category. I hope this would be useful for us. Mababa 05:41, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Jiaozi

Greetings Kaihsu,

I noticed a while back you were trying to add a photo of Jiaozi being made to the Jiaozi article.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to create an interwiki link to share photos across language versions of Wikipedia, so linking to the photo on zh.wikipedia.org is not possible.

Therefore, I went ahead and uploaded the image here, and then added it to the article.

If it is possible to ask zh.wikipedia user Prattflora to add a licensing tag with a short description of whether he or she created the image in question, we could copy it to the Wikimedia Commons, which will make it easier for other language versions of Wikipedia to share the image in the future.

Do you write Chinese well enough that you could add a request to Prattflora's user talk page?

Regards,

DV 03:53, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Question on Title

  • A couple of people have asked me to change the title of "Culture defines politics". I see that you are very learned so I respect your opinion. Should I change the title? And would any of these suggestions be okay, "Cultural effects on politics", "Cultural determinates on politics" or anything that you can think of. Thanks for your concern and time. [edit] Current events, HKCOTW and HKWNB

Hello Kaishu. I noticed you have edited some of the Hong Kong-related topics. You may be interested to have a look at Current events in Hong Kong and Macao, Hong Kong Collaboration of the Week and Hong Kong wikipedians' notice board. — Instantnood 10:51 Mar 4 2005 (UTC)

[edit] zh-min-nan:

Hello Khái-sū, How do you do! Nice to meet you here.

Is there difference between zh-min-nan & minnan? --Chun-hian10:37, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Not technically, but zh-min-nan is preferred, as it is the IANA code. – Kaihsu 12:16, 2005 Apr 1 (UTC)

[edit] Hardworking families

I've nominated this article for deletion because as it stands it does not contain any real information, and it does not appear to have any real potential. Is there some specific reason for creating this article? I notice you think it is a 'code word' but don't explain what for. If that could be put in NPOV then it might fit in the UK general election, 2005 article. Dbiv 11:01, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Ok, you've done good work there but I'm afraid I don't have time to read it all. Given the lengthy discussion, I'm withdrawing my vote. Yours, Radiant_* 09:35, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright notice on pictures

Hi! I noticed that you were (and possibly still are) putting © and copyright notices on images you upload. From reading previous comments here on the topic it seems to be your intent that you feel you have to assert copyright on the image before you can give it away under another license. In actual fact taking the picture in the first place is enough, as it implicitly assigns ownership and copyright status of the image.

You don't have to explicitly assert copyright on something, you just get it when you create it. If it was any other way around people could just go looking around for things which weren't already explicitly copyrighted, and copyright them for themselves, which would—I'm sure you'll agree—get rather confusing rather quickly.

Personally I found the © notice a little confusing (hence why I took the time to rummage around here for more info), and believe that you can do without it. Most people seem to attach something like "Taken by whoever on whenever", which I think is enough to ascertain the origin of the image without confusing matters.

I see what you're trying to do, and now that I understand it I don't have a massive problem with it, but it is slightly confusing having a rather off-putting copyright immediately followed by the GFDL text! Possibly omitting the extra notice in future will prevent further confusion, and save you some typing. — pmcm 21:27, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

No. It is not confusing. Those who find it confusing has not understood GFDL. I insist on asserting my copyright and moral rights. – Kaihsu 10:26, 2005 May 6 (UTC)

It is confusing. I fully understand the GFDL, and was confused, and someone earlier was confused. Other than that I have no problems with it. Many people will (mistakenly) interpret your assertion of copyright as an assertion that the works may not be copied, which is the most frequent purpose of asserting copyright. Again, I don't have any particular problem with it, but do point out that it is confusing. As a point of interest, exactly what do you mean by moral rights? — pmcm 13:47, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

See the article on moral right. – Kaihsu 14:37, 2005 May 6 (UTC)

After thinking about this a little more I suppose it's only confusing because nobody else does it! Please feel free to ignore my comments. ;) — pmcm 14:17, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

In fact, the GFDL itself instructs authors to attach a copyright notice: [2]. Cheers. – Kaihsu 14:39, 2005 May 6 (UTC)

So it does! Very interesting. Thanks for the links. You learn something new every day... it's just a shame that it's not always very useful. ;) — pmcm 15:08, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Freedom of speech

Just to let you know that I have copied your excellent Image:GroenLinks demonstration 20041002 CopyrightKaihsuTai.JPG to the Freedom of speech article as it was lacking an image. Regards --Etimbo | Talk 23:40, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Excellent. Thanks! I have more, such as Image:ChristianAidCampaigners20050127 CopyrightKaihsuTai.jpg. Will add. Cheers. – Kaihsu 13:33, 2005 May 22 (UTC)

[edit] Stubs

Thanks for adding the Bo-bi-lok article. As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting, I have replaced the generalized {{stub}} tag with {{Film-stub}}. When you create new articles, it would be great if you could use these more specific tags whenever possible. Thanks, and continue contributing to Wikipedia! [edit] Comment

In this edit you said in your edit summary:

"It is impossible to 'agree' on anything without a vote being carried out."

This is a greatly disturbing thing for you to say, absolutely set against policy and convention, and I think it would be best if you retracted it immediately; saying such things is decidedly non-helpful.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 14:12, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

You need to take it in context. – Kaihsu 15:06, 2005 Jun 15 (UTC)

[edit] Vote

Hello Kaihsu, thank you for your voting.

If I understand correctly, you voted from English Wikipedia wiki and Zh-min-nan wiki. As you know, every voter have only one vote by person. You can vote from anywhere you have over 400 edits, but you have to choose one project from which you would vote.

I stroke the older vote(s) and left the latest one. If you would like to change your vote again, please vote from the wiki you have voted last time.

Your reply on my meta talk page will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Help with the image in nl:Formosaanse talen which I just added today? Dankie. – Kaihsu 18:26, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
Sure. Actually something strange happened to your message: it appears if I open up the edit of my user page on af. but not on the page itself.. But, how can I help? Jcwf
A caption in Dutch? – Kaihsu 19:56, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
OK, I do have a question, the page you put in on deals with aboriginal austronesian languages and I could not correlate the names of the languages. Is Xingang /Sinkang austronesian like Malay? Jcwf
I made the caption: Bilingual Dutch-Xingang bible from the days of the VOC on Formosa.

[edit] Rosicrucian article

Dear user Kaihsu, as I have seen an edition of yours at the article Rosicrucian, I come to request your support to this article that I have just purposed for nomination at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Rosicrucian. May you may give a look into it? And, if you consider it acceptable, then may you support it? Thank you! :) --GalaazV 02:49, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Min pronounciation

Hi Kaihsu, I'm working on the Yuan (surname) article and am collecting regional prounciations of the surname. Do you know the Fujianese transliteration (in Minnan or Minbei) of 袁? Thanks in advance for your help. --Yeu Ninje 07:35, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
