Kang Hye-jeong (b. January 4, 1982) is a South Korean actress who has starred in films such as Oldboy and Welcome to Dongmakgol.
Kang is especially memorable in her role as an innocent yet sexually frank young girl opposite Choi Min-sik in Oldboy, where she shows that unlike the majority of her predecessors, she is willing to expose herself both physically (to partake in graphic sexual scenes) and emotionally (to deliver some of the most realistic performances in Korean cinematic history). In addition, Kang lacks the traditionally valued (and often plastic surgery-induced) features of mainstream actresses' looks. The combination of natural good looks and visual versatility (in Oldboy she sports both makeup-free and highly polished looks to equal success), in addition to the honesty of her acting, makes her a very promising actress.
