From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kazoku refers to the aristocratic or noble class of modern Japan; this system existed from 1869 to 1947. Though the samurai class had been abolished, many daimyo and kuge, rather than losing their rank entirely, were given Western-style titles, such as Baron, Duke or Marquis.
