Kicker (sports magazine)

Kicker Sportmagazin (generally referred to only asThe Kicker) is the leading German sports magazine. Its main focus is football. The magazine, founded in 1920 by Walther Bensemann is published bi-weekly (usually Monday and Thursday) in Nuremberg. The Monday edition sells in average ca. 240,000 copies, whilst the Thursday edition has an average circulation of about 220,000 copies (2005 figures).

The journal is mainly covering German club football (Bundesliga, 2nd Bundesliga) and international matches with German participation (German national football team, Champions League, UEFA Cup), but is also (to a lesser extent) devoted to other European football leagues (English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue 1, Italian Serie A) and other sports that are popular in Germany (such as Formula One, tennis, cycling, handball, swimming, winter sports).

The kicker is a founding member of European Sports Magazines, an association of football publications.
[edit] kicker-Torjägerkanone Award
The kicker annually awards the most prolific scorer of the Bundesliga with the kicker Torjägerkanone (kicker scorer cannon) award. It is equivalent to the pichichi in Spanish soccer.
