King's Hedges
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
King's Hedges is an electoral ward in the north of the city of Cambridge.
The area popularly known as King's Hedges comprises a number of adjoining housing estates which were built in the 1960s and 1970s in order to expand the city's capacity as part of a wider plan to house London overspill. It is now widely populated and is a fairly multi-cultural area.
The area has good bus and road connections to the centre of Cambridge as well as ready access to the outskirts and the A14 trunk road. It is home to the Cambridge Regional College further education college and the Cambridge Science Park, as well as a number of local pubs and shops. Adjacent to King's Hedges is the large Arbury Park development, which is due to be completed around 2009.
