Koban (police box)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A kōban (交番) is a Japanese police box. In Japan, in addition to central police stations, police work is done from small buildings located within the community. There, police officers can keep watch, respond to emergencies, give directions, and otherwise interact with the citizens.
In some cities in the U.S. and Singapore, the koban system is adopted as an effective method for maintaining public security.
