KRBK is a forthcoming television station licensed to Osage Beach, Missouri. The station would operate on UHF channel 49 on an effective radiated power of five million watts. The transmitter would be situated between the cities of Springfield and Jefferson City; the station would have rimshot signals over Springfield and Jefferson City, but would not cover Columbia.
The owner of the construction permit for KRBK is Koplar Communications, former owners of KPLR in St. Louis, Missouri and KMAX in Sacramento, California, the latter of which originally bore the KRBK calls. The station's construction permit will expire on August 11, 2009, which is six months after the deadline to switch to digital, currently set for February, 2009.
It is currently unknown what programming will air on KRBK.
[edit] Digital television
Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [1], the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 18, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KRBK will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
This is providing that KRBK signs on as an analog station, and not straight into digital.
