Kristian "Kris" Commons (born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire on 30th August 1983) is a winger who currently plays for Nottingham Forest.
Kris Commons joined the Reds at the start of the 2004 season from Stoke City. He started he career with the Potters as a trainee. Shortly after making his first team debut, he was out injured for a year due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. He went on to make 20 starts and just over 20 substitute appearances. Commons refused to sign a new contract with Stoke, much to the disappoint of the club's supporters who were angered that he had chosen to leave the club after spending so long on the sidelines. Commons told the club he wanted to join Nottingham Forest, the club he supported as a boy.
Commons believed Nottingham Forest to be more ambitious than Stoke City, however many will question the wisdom of his decision following Forest's relegation to Coca Cola League One at the end the 2004/05 season. Following the departure of Andy Reid to Tottenham Hotspur and the arrival of Gary Megson Commons seemed to get a new lease of life at the City Ground, and this was none so more telling in the FA Cup 5th Round ironically against Tottenham, when Commons stole the show with a sintilating performance which did win him the FA's Player Of The Round. A match where the travelling Forest faithful chanted, "Are you watching Andy Reid".
The skillful winger, who has the ability to score great goals, was quickly dubbed the new Andy Reid by fans and has made over 50 appearances, scoring 15 goals, most of them rather spectacular.
Despite sometimes being an inconsistent performer, he is still said to be one of Forest's best players and has recently attracted the interest of Football League Championship clubs like Birmingham City.
Commons was educated at Quarrydale School, Sutton In Ashfield.
Commons was named the FA's Player of the round for Round One of the FA Cup, with over 60% of the votes, after his superb hat-trick and match winning display against Yeading. In doing so, he became the first player to win the award twice in different seasons having also won it in 2005 after his performance in the 5th round against Tottenham.
Commons endured a number of injuries this season but has still managed to score 7 goals in all competitions helping to keep the club's promotion dream alive, including a vital goal against leaders Scunthorpe United.
