Lake Kissimmee is a Florida lake located about 15 miles east of Lake Wales, Florida, USA. Lake Kissimmee State Park includes a camp with daily demonstrations, fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking, and stargazing, to name only a few. It is open weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Its hours of operation are from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Lake Kissimee is rich with wildlife, including bald eagles, white tailed deer, bobcats, turkeys, and sandhill cranes. It features 13 miles of trail and an additional 6 miles to campsites. Youth camping allows for up to 50 people. The main attraction is its "cow camp" where visitors can learn about 1876 era Florida cowboys. The current camp manager as of November 1, 2005 is Tony Morell.
The Joe Overstreet Road access to the lake is an internationally known area for birdwatching, with Sandhill Crane, introduced Whooping Crane, Bald Eagle, Black Vulture, and shorebirds prominent.
