Owner of a Lonely Heart (1983) |
Leave It (1984) |
Hold On (1985) |
"Leave It" is a song by Yes. It appears on the 1983 90125 album. The song featured repeated single issues, most backed with remixes of the song or an a capella version. The original version was occasionally placed as the B-side of "Owner of a Lonely Heart," and on another instance, the original version was found on a 12-inch single with another A-side track, "City of Love."[1]
The song reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

[edit] On the album
This is the second track on the album's second side, with "Cinema" serving as a form of introduction.
[edit] In the live setting
"Leave It" appeared in a similar manner on the 9012Live tour as it had on the album - it was the second song performed each night, with "Cinema" serving as the intro. The song was performed on all 113 shows of the 9012Live tour, but nowhere else.[2]
[edit] Remixes
- Main article: 90125 (album)#Remix albums
Several remixes of the song exist and can be found on a tape issued in 1984, known as "Twelve Inches on Tape" (Atco 7-90156-4-A). The cover of the tape displays a cover of a single issue of "Leave It" backed with "Owner of a Lonely Heart." This issue, however, may not exist, and the cover was only created to reflect the tape's track list, which alternates between a remix of "Leave It" and one of "Owner" (for four total remixes). Both of these remixes can be found on single issues.
Furthermore, an a capella version was issued, which appeared as the B-side to many issues of the song.
The 2004 remastered CD version of 90125 includes the a capella version and "Single Remix" version of the song, which probably refers to the first track of this remix tape. The "Hello, Goodbye" mix does not appear to be legally available on CD.
[edit] The video(s) for "Leave It"
The creative duo of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme was responsible for making the music videos for "Leave It" ...all 15 versions of them. The entire video was the members of the band, dressed in suits, standing in line against a white background and lip-synching the song. But from this basic arrangement, Godley & Creme derived 15 different versions of the video (with the majority of them displaying the one scene upside-down): One version would have just Jon Anderson pictured, another would have only Trevor Rabin standing in his spot, another would have all five members slowing fading into the white background, another would feature the five members making choreographed moves, yet another version would have the band members with their backs turned to the camera, and the final 15th version was rumored to be the band members celebrating the occasion of "Leave It" reaching #1 on the singles charts (which, of course, never happened). This final version never aired anywhere, but MTV premiered the other 14 versions in early 1984. After that initial run, only one version of the "Leave It" video has aired since, featuring various visual effects being performed on the five standing band members.
