The Liberal Party Bangladesh is a liberal political party in Bangladesh. It was established in May 1997 by a merger of various liberal, secular and centre-left associations, political parties and trade unions. It is the Bangladeshi constituent of the Liberal International.
Its leader is Dr Mohiuddid Ahmed, a civil rights lawyer who is respected for his work promoting democracy and human rights and for his high-profile cases, which include the protection of the rights of garments' workers.
In addition to its main policy thinktank, the Institute for Liberal Democracy in Dhaka, it has various other affiliated organisations, such as the Liberal Commission for Women, Minorities and Human Rights. It has had limited electoral success, with no elected officials at any level of government, and is mired in controversy over alleged funding from foreign governments.
