An Air Bag is a purple, balloon-like creature which may sometimes be encountered when opening a mystery crate. Air Bags blow gusts of wind at Yoshi, but they can be defeated by throwing an egg at their bandages.

Appears in: Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Amazy Dayzee

Amazy Dayzees are no different from Crazee Dayzees, except that they are yellow instead of cyan.

An Attacky Sack is a rainbow-coloured Chomp without a chain.

A Bandit is a tall Shy Guy-like character who wears a mask. He tries to snatch Baby Mario and run away. Bandits can be either red or blue, and some red Bandits contain red coins.

A Barney Bubble is a small purple enemy that spits bubbles when stepped on. Yoshi can lick up the bubbles and spit them back.

[edit] Baron von Zeppelin

A Baron von Zeppelin is a balloon with a smiley face that can carry items or enemies. They can carry helpful items such as coins, harmful items such as explosives, or enemies such as Shy Guys. They also sometimes appear in groups of three carrying crates.

In Yoshi's Island DS, they attack in the same way except without the Shy Guys.

This Bandit-like character is fond of pitching Yoshi eggs, and can be tricked into giving Yoshi treasure.

[edit] Big Blurp (Blue)

Blue Big Blurps spray water to try to make Yoshi slip into their jaws. If Yoshi is unfortunate enough to slip off into the water, Blue Big Blurp will attempt to eat him.

[edit] Big Blurp (Red)

The red species of Big Blurp. They will jump out if Yoshi is moving rapidly in one spot or running away. If he remains still, Red Big Blurp will stare at Yoshi but not devour him.

A Birdy is a quickly flying enemy that is usually found in groups.

Black Bomb Shy Guys are flying Shy Guys that attempt to drop bombs on top of Yoshi.

Blobs that appear in the level 5-4, Sluggy the Unshaven's Fort, who resemble a Hot Lips. They are red and yellow and also appear in level 1-8, Salvo the Slime's Castle, with a swinging platform that can lift Yoshi to different places.

A white squid that hops out of the water.

A small fish from Yoshi's Story. He swims around and can be eaten by Yoshi. Watch out for his father, Big Blurp, though. Similar to Cheep-Cheeps from some Mario games.

Blow Hard is a cactus enemy that spits Needlenoses at Yoshi in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. He can be temporarily stunned by ground pounding near him.

An enemy from Yoshi Touch & Go that is similar to a Blow Hard's face.

Bob-ombs are small, black, walking bombs with eyes.

Appear in: Yoshi's Story and other Mario games.

[edit] Bomb Berry

Falls from trees.

Appears in: Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Bone Dragon

Enemy in Yoshi's Story. Must be stomped on twice or hit in the head with eggs twice to defeat.

[edit] Bone Dragon Boss

A mini-boss, it is composed of a body and three Bone Dragon heads. There are only two in Yoshi's Story and they are both easy to defeat.

Main article:Boo

Boos are generally small, round ghosts that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Most Boos will freeze if looked at directly, only to attack Yoshi once he turns his back. The varieties of Boos include:

  • Boo: The standard Boo.
  • Big Boo: A large version of the standard Boo.
  • Boo Buddy: A Boo accompanied by three little Boos.
  • Blind Boo: A Boo who approaches on a basis of sound rather than sight.
  • Boo Balloon: A balloon version of a Boo that does not freeze if looked at directly.
  • Boo Man Bluff: A large orange blindfolded Boo, that does not freeze if looked at directly.
  • Slime Boo: A slimy Boo that can be defeated by using a stomp.
  • Bigger Boo: A Big Boo made huge with magic. Yoshi can only defeat him by bouncing his eggs off a wall, because he turns transparent when Yoshi looks at him. He is the boss of Bigger Boo's Fort in World 2.
  • Invisighoul: A small ghost in 2-4 of Yoshi's Island DS.
  • Hector the Reflector: A giant furnitureless Invisighoul.
  • Dark Boo: A purple Boo.

In Yoshi's Island DS, Boos appeared only in World 3-4.

The Shy Guys of ghosts that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Two variations known as "Greaper" and "Glum Reaper" appear in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. There is a variation from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time called Ghoul Guy. In Yoshi's Island DS, they appear only in World 2-4.

This gigantic fish from Super Mario Bros. 3 shows up in the Yoshi series once. He will jump out of the water to eat Yoshi, but his mouth only seems to stun him. A variation of him appears in New Super Mario Bros., as well. In Yoshi's Island DS, it served as a boss as a female Boss Bass: Bessie Bass.

A yellow Bullet Bill shot out of a cannon. Unlike the original, these ones can bounce of the walls and the cannon can aim.

A large bullet shot out of a cannon. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, a Bullet Bill is green.

They are small, bouncy penguins. They can not attack directly, but instead are nourishing for bouncing Yoshi off cliffs.

This purple Piranha Plant hides on the ceiling and drags down when Yoshi passes below it. Served as a boss as Big Bungee Piranha.

A strange hopping creature usually paired up with a partner and serves as a boss as Burt the Bashful and as bosses as the Big Burt Bros.

A cactus. He hurts to touch.

A ghost that emerges from behind a cage.

A small animal-like teardrop-shaped enemy similar to a Gusty. It moves in a set direction, either horizontally or vertically.

[edit] Eggo-Dil

This is an enemy flower that launches its petals. Yoshi can eat the petals and turn them into eggs.

A fang is a small blue bat that flies in a spiral pattern. If Yoshi tries to eat one, then spit it out, it will escape.

A fat Shy Guy who, when eaten, becomes a bigger egg that causes earthquakes. When stomped, he runs faster.

A flightless Very Goonie who rolls around.

A flying Shy Guy. Sometimes they carry red coins, 1-ups, stars, or coins. A variation is the Whirly Fly Guy, which flashes different colors. When hit with several eggs, the Whirly Fly Guy will give Yoshi a 1-up.

The Fly Guys appear in Yoshi's Island DS, but the colorful ones don't.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS.

A large frog enemy that spits out his tongue and takes Baby Mario from Yoshi. Served as a boss as a royal Frog Pirate: Prince Froggy.

An enemy that causes Yoshi to get dizzy. A Fuzzy is very dangerous in levels with low footing as Yoshi can easily tumble to his death.

[edit] Fuzzy Wiggler

Jumping on all sections of the Fuzzy Wiggler will give Yoshi a watermelon.

Appears in: Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Gabon

A Gabon throws spiked balls at Yoshi. They can roll down hills and are similar to Spikes.

[edit] Gargantua Blargg

A huge lava monster that rises from the lava.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island DS, and Tetris Attack.

A ghostly creature that grabs onto Yoshi. He is purple with a skull as a head/face. When Yoshi is being used as a host, he flashes green and pink, and the controls become reversed. It becomes harder to grab Baby Mario.

A mushroom shaped enemy who appears in many Mario games including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Goombas flatten when stomped upon. This enemy appears only in level 4-1 of the game.

These enemies hang from the ceiling and swing at Yoshi, trying to hit him. Served as a boss as Gilbert the Gooey.

These creatures attack by flying back and forth and carry Yoshi on their bodies, occasionally dropping bombs on his head. They are similar to the Albatosses from Super Mario Bros. 2.

A skeleton version of a Goonie and drop bombs on Yoshi's head.

A fat Goonie that bounces up and down and carry Yoshi on its circle body. Although this enemy don't appear in Yoshi's Island DS but there is a possible Very Goonie: Moltz the Very Goonie.

[edit] Green Glove

A baseball boy that throws eggs to knock Yoshi of the ground.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS.

[edit] Grunt

The Grunt is an enemy that wears a spiked hat and appears in Marching Milde's fort. He attacks Yoshi by running into him. If he is hit by an egg, he will lose his helmet. When the helmet is removed, he can be stepped on and defeated.

A ghost that appears when there is a moutain type level.

A small hedgehog creature with blue spikes that grows larger if approached by Yoshi.

[edit] Hootie the Blue Fish

A Hootie the Blue Fish is a slow swimming Piranha that prowls in the pipes of Naval Piranha's castle. It can only be defeated with an Ice or Fire Watermelon. Its name is based on the band Hootie & the Blowfish.

A nest of hornets that is unaffected by eggs. If an egg is thrown, it causes the bees to attack Yoshi.

[edit] Hot Lips

Hot Lips is a large lava creature that attacks by spitting lava at Yoshi. If he is hit by the stream, he gets knocked unconscious. The stream is deadly but easy to dodge.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island DS.

[edit] Huffin' Puffin

Huffin' Puffin is a large white puffin in striped overalls that can push Yoshi, but cannot directly harm him. Yoshi can use Huffin' Puffin's three children like eggs (although they function like boomerangs, usually coming back to Yoshi) by jumping on Huffin' Puffin then running through his children as if he was collecting eggs.

This enemy is similar to the Chainless Chomp, but instead of chasing Yoshi, it jumps from the background and gobbles up parts of the ledge.

A skeleton fish that swims in lava. This enemy is basically the equivalent of Flopsy Fish.

A small, walking cannon that can fire cannonballs at Yoshi.

A Lantern Ghost is a small creature found in the cave levels of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which carries a lantern.

A Lava Bubble is a small bubble of lava that jumps vertically from lava pits. Eating one of these will grant Yoshi the ability to breathe fire.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Island DS.

[edit] Lava Drop

Similar to the Cloud Drop, but this enemy is composed of lava. It does not spawn from lava like the Lava Bubble. It can't be eaten or defeated in any way.

[edit] Lemon Drop

A Lemon Drop is a small yellow drop of slime with eyes. It can be defeated with eggs or by stomping upon it. Served as a boss as Salvo the Slime.

A small blue mouse that will try to steal eggs from Yoshi.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

[edit] Loch Nestor

Loch Nestor is a spiny, red fish which that grows larger when hit by an egg.

[edit] Lunge Fish

They can eat Yoshi.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Tetris Attack, and Yoshi's Island DS.

A Mace Guy is a Shy Guy that swings a mace.

[edit] Melon Bug

A Melon Bug is a small, striped bug that rolls into a ball when Yoshi approaches. It is completely harmless to Yoshi. In level 1-7, there is a way to use a Melon Bug to gain unlimited 1-ups.

A small balloon-like enemy, somewhat reminiscent of Kirby. It explodes when jumped on. Served as a boss as Marcing Milde.

A red Bullet Bill that chases Yoshi.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

[edit] Mock Up

A balloon with the writing "1-up" on it. It quickly inflates and will explode if not eaten.

[edit] Muddy Buddy

A small, purple creature that can be used to cross spikes. It can't harm Yoshi, but Yoshi can't hurt it either.

A smiling, prickly enemy spit out by various enemies.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Island DS.

A huge river monster, similar to a Gargantuan Blargg.

[edit] Nipper Plant

A white Pacman shaped plant. It forms when a Para-Nipper Plant touches the ground.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story, and Yoshi's Island DS

An elephant-like enemy. It can only be defeated with a ground pound.

Appearing in: Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Para-Nipper Plant

A small red and white plant that forms a Nipper Plant upon contact with the ground. Yoshi can eat these, but cannot turn them into eggs.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story, and Yoshi's Island DS.

[edit] Para-Koopa

A winged Koopa Troopa that goes up, down, left, right, and jumps. It becomes a regular Koopa Troopa when jumped on.

Appears in: various Mario games, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Island DS.

A Shy Guy with yellow flowers on top of its head.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Island DS.

They live in the jungle and attack Yoshi. They block his path, but they can be defeated by eggs.

[edit] Piranha Pest

If this creature manages to swallow Yoshi, it can float around with him in its stomach for a while. It then spits Yoshi out, and Yoshi shrinks in size and can't use eggs.

[edit] Pirate Shy Guy

As a danger to Yoshi, these are nothing more than ordinary Shy Guys.

Appears in: Yoshi's Island DS and in the background of two stages in Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Piscatory Pete

A fish that is found in submarines. They are similar to Cheep Cheeps.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

[edit] Pokey

A green cactus with a Needlenose on top. This enemy is only found in one level throughout the entire Yoshi series.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

[edit] Purple Spike Creature

This is a spiked enemy.

Appears in: Yoshi's Story.

[edit] Potted Ghost

These creatures live in pots and hurt Yoshi if he touches them. They can be flipped over and used as ledges as well.

[edit] Potted Fun Guy

These creatures jump but when eaten become Fun Guys.

Appears in: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

[edit] Pyro Guy

A fast Shy Guy that is on fire. This enemy allows Yoshi to breathe fire if he eats one.

[edit] Raven

A small black bird. They are usually in groups that encircle miniature globes in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Served as a boss as Raphael the Raven.

A Sea Cactus is a dangerous underwater plant.
