Talk:List of celebrity New York Mets fans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] References
I've added a references section to help provide proof on some of the lesser-known fans (such as Harper Lee). On the other hand, it seems kind of strange to have to provide references for a number of the people listed. It's common knowledge that Seinfeld, Stiller, Broderick, Mortensen, Robbins and Stewart (among others) are all life-long Mets fans. I'm just wondering what is needed to get the disclaimer removed from the top of the page, and what determines when a reference is required. Martiniminister 18:00, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kevin Shields?
Seems like I once saw a reference about Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine being a Mets fan. He was born in Queens in 1963, and still lived there when the Amazin's won the World Series in 1969. Also, he has worked with Yo La Tengo, themselves well-known fans. If anyone can find a reference, this would be an awesome addition to the list. Martiniminister 20:00, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Apu?
So, could Apu Nahasapeemapetilon of The Simpsons be put in the fictional fan category? He did claim to be a fan of the "Nye Mets" (NY rhyming with Rye) when trying to avoid getting deported... :) Oaxaca dan 15:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Considering he wore a Mets jersey on the show, and he's voiced by real-life Mets fan Hank Azaria, I vote yes. Martiniminister 20:00, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
