Long Stanton railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Long Stanton railway station was a station on the Great Eastern Railway between Cambridge and Huntingdon. It served the village of Longstanton until closure in October 1970. The station was immortalised in 1964 in the song "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann.
The station platforms and railway line through Long Stanton still exists as a freight route from Cambridge to St Ives, Cambridgeshire, and there has been a proposal to re-open the line to passengers.
